About MUCA
MUCA is a digital artist whose work is a testament to the transformative and healing power of art. With a background in architecture, MUCA’s technical mastery was repurposed for profound emotional expression following a life-saving open-heart surgery for Loeys-Dietz Syndrome. This pivotal experience gave birth to the 100 Hearts series, a daily creative ritual that became a visual diary of his recovery and a meditation on the fragility and resilience of the human heart.
This series laid the foundation for the MUCAMEGAVERSE, an expansive virtual world that serves as both a source and a subject for his art. Within this digital landscape, MUCA explores themes of memory, connection, and compassion. His work has gained international acclaim, notably with the creation of “Burn Heart,” a monumental sculpture featured at Burning Man 2025.
The artist survived.
Cathartic events lead to exponential change.
On April 13, 2021, MUCA had open heart surgery due to a rare congenital heart condition called Loeys-Dietz Syndrome. The average life expectancy for people with Loeys-Dietz is 37 years old, and for years prior to the surgery, he coped with the knowledge of his impending death. Now, with a new lease on life, his art expresses the pain he felt before the surgery, the joy and release he felt afterward, and the gamut of emotions in between. Each heart piece represented here is an autobiographical expression of these experiences, digitally manipulated. Each piece is a story, a journey through life in the artist’s eyes.
